Heart of Wisdom

Here is this week's Bible Verse.

VERSE:            Psalm 90:12

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

REFLECTION:

Today I want to take you on a numbers journey, actually an age journey. Lets go back to the start of life.

Ages 1-5 You really have no wisdom except that you are dependent upon those around you to meet your needs from feeding you and changing you and starting to teach you right from wrong.

Ages 6-12 You start school and start to gain wisdom into what is going on in the world around you. You start to have some independent thoughts and ideas on what you believe and don't believe. A lot of that comes from your parents as well as what you are consuming in school and TV. Hopefully you are being raised in a Christian home and are able to start gaining wisdom through church and the bible.

Ages 13-18 Middle school and High school can be very challenging because you start to spread your independent wings and formulating your own ideas of what truth is. You may start to question your parents wisdom because at this age you think you know best. This is when you should be digging in deeper to God's word and starting to grow that heart of wisdom.

Ages 19-25 College and work become your central focus for gaining wisdom. At this point you should be discerning in the information you are receiving. Checking everything against God's word and making sure that heart of wisdom is growing in God's truh and not the world's.

Adulthood beyond age 25. Hopefully starting a family and passing your knowledge and wisdom on to your kids. One thing I've learned as I have gotten older that as each year passes that wisdom gets stronger. the thing to be aware of is that wisdom grounded in the word of God or in the world.

We need to make sure as we get older that we grow that heart of wisdom by reading God's word and praying. God will grant you the wisdom, just ask.

PRAYER:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for giving me a heart of wisdom. Help me strengthen that heart of wisdom through your word and prayer. As I get older help me to pass on my wisdom to my children and grandchildren. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Hope you enjoyed today's verse.
