VERSE: Proverbs
19:2
Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge,
and he sins who hastens with his feet.
REFLECTION:
Knowledge is so important for the well‑being of your
soul Knowledge of God and God's word will bring your soul comfort and
peace. Those who don't follow the
precepts of God's word have feet that follow sin. How is your soul doing? Is there turmoil in your life, or peace? While it is true that Jesus did not promise
our life would be easy if we followed Him, He did say He would give us
peace. That is a peace during times of
trouble and turmoil. But to really feel
and experience the peace that Jesus gives, we must have knowledge about Him and
His word The easiest way to receive this knowledge is to read God's word daily.
Do you read
God's word daily? Even if your only
exposure to God's word is the Bvftw (Bible Verse for the Week), it hopefully helps you gain some knowledge
about who God is and what we are to do as Christians. Reading the word is food for your soul. If you never fed your body you would starve
to death, or you would get so desperate that you would seek out anything to
eat. If you don't feed your soul God's
word, your soul will starve to death, or it will start to give in to the
cravings and seek out other ways to be fed.
That might mean that it seeks out evil, getting fed from the only type
of knowledge it finds. If your soul
doesn't know the truth, then how can it avoid the danger? That is why this verse says that those
without knowledge will let their feet take them to the sinful knowledge. If you don't know any better why would you
think what you are doing is sin? God
wants us to be knowledgeable about Him.
He desires for us to read the word so we don't have feet that hesitate
but feet that run to Him.
PRAYER:
Pray for knowledge and discernment when reading God's
word. Pray for a deeper desire to know
God.
